What we're actually for

Anyone can collect information. Very few things reduce uncertainty. If you can answer your question in two minutes and close the tab, that's the product working — we're not trying to hold your attention, only to make the next decision obvious.

So Calm Abroad is not a forum, not a booking site, not a visa agency, and not a chatbot with a homepage. It's five things: guides you can trust, a planner that tells you whether you can afford it, places other foreigners vouch for, your own dates in one place, and an assistant that reads all of it back to you for your situation.

Three kinds of answer

Official information, community opinion and AI explanation are labelled separately everywhere they appear. Confusing them is how people end up at an immigration office with the wrong paperwork.

What we ask of you

As little as possible. We don't want your passport or any identity document — the dates you type in are enough to tell you what's coming. Your information stays yours: export it or delete it whenever you like, and we never sell it.

One country at a time

Thailand is live. Australia, Germany, Japan, Singapore and Vietnam follow, each built as its own module with the same ten topics, the same structure and the same review process. Depth in one country beats a thin page for every country.

How we keep this current

Immigration, tax and visa rules change often, and stale information is worse than none. So every guide carries a visible last-reviewed date, and every guide ends with links to the official government sources it draws on.

• Each guide is reviewed on a schedule and re-dated when it changes.
• Official sources are linked separately from our summary, so you can always check the primary text.
• Cost figures are stored as reference data and refreshed independently of the written guides.
• Where a rule is genuinely unsettled, we say so rather than pretending otherwise.
